Angie Jennings utilizes her photographic skills acquired over 20 years in various styles of the photographic medium to depict stories in a single image or series. Her images are a combination of digital, film and photogravure. She has exhibited nationally as well as internationally, Oregon, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma and Beijing.

My work is two fold, documentary story telling and street photography.

One facet of my work is street photography of China and her ever changing face. Many of the pieces stand-alone as a single story derived from doing work as a street photographer. As in “Modern Streets of an Ancient Empire” which is an ongoing project that studies the dichotomy of China and its ever-increasing modernity crossing over, sometimes, burying the great history of this most ancient country. These images are a culmination of my travels to China in 2003 and 2010. I was amazed at how much the cities have changed yet deep under the façade of empty construction they still hint at their history.

The other facet is documentary. Most notably “Beauty of Survival: Krista’s fight against breast cancer” a two year project from which I do an ongoing “anniversary” portrait every year. I take great pride in this long, difficult piece of work and am grateful for the honor of documenting Krista in her fight. I photographed her when she removed her bandages from her first surgery, had her port inserted, 6 of the 7 chemo sessions, 6 of the 33 consecutive radiation treatments, hysterectomy, the port removal and life in between. After amassing over 2000 images I have edited them down to create “Beauty of Survival” a book showing how one woman’s strength in survival is beautiful, painful and inspiring.
